Ginbar on course for hat-trick – York 13/10/2017

The opening race at York on Friday is a nursery handicap for two-year-olds over six furlongs.

Ginbar chases hat-trick at York

Tom Dascombe saddles Ginbar, a colt by Kodiac out of a mare by Indian Ridge. He is up 4lbs for his latest victory at Chester where he defeated It Don’t Come Easy. He was always holding the runner-up in the closing stages in the testing conditions. Ginbar had previously beaten Knighted by four lengths on better ground at Haydock.

Tulip Fever is a filly by Dutch Art trained by William Haggas. She gained the third win of her career at Yarmouth in August when beating Mraseel by half a length. The handicapper has also put her up 4lbs and David Allan takes the ride.

Canford’s Joy is another improving three-year-old, a winner at Carlisle and Catterick. This is a much tougher contest but the son of Canford Cliffs likes to race up with the pace and should go well. Silvestre de Sousa was in terrific form at Nottingham on Wednesday and partners Roundhay Park here. The gelding is by Mayson out of a mare by Daylami and has won two of his last three races. In his most recent outing he beat Maygold comfortably at Bath. He is stepping up to six furlongs and there is a question mark about his stamina.

Black Friday back up in trip at York

Karl Burke saddles Beatbox Rhythm, a colt by Beat Hollow out of a Cadeaux Genereux mare. He was not disgraced behind Wells Farhh Go in a hot race at York in August. He was fancied at Doncaster last time but was beaten eight lengths into third behind Shabaaby.

Black Friday is yet to win in three starts for Karen McLintock. The Equiano colt was beaten half a length by Jonboy at Pontefract last time out over five furlongs. He goes back up to six furlongs with Graham Lee in the saddle.

Captain Jameson won on his third start for John Quinn. That was a novice auction race at Catterick when beating Mont Kinabalu. He was a length and a half behind Canford’s Joy at Carlisle at level weights. Captain Jameson is only 1lb better off at York and will be hard pressed to turn the tables.
