Important Mission for Ryan Moore – Doncaster 13/09/2017
The 4.20 at Doncaster on Wednesday is a seven furlong handicap for three-year-olds rated 86-100.
Lahore steps up in trip at Doncaster
Ryan Moore partners Important Mission for William Haggas, a gelding by More Than Ready. He provided Aussiebet racing followers with a 7-1 winner at Chelmsford City last time out. He had caught our eye on his previous outing when staying on strongly into fourth at the same track.
Moore kept him at the rear of the field until making rapid progress with two furlongs to travel. He stayed on well to beat Aventinus by three and a half lengths. The handicapper has put him up 10lbs for that success but Important Mission could be up to the task.
Silvestre de Sousa rides market rival Lahore who takes a drop in class for Roger Varian. The Elusive Quality colt won his first two races at Doncaster and Windsor. Varian then sent him to France for a Group 3 contest where he finished fifth behind Signs Of Blessing. There is nothing of that quality in this field but he is stepping up to seven furlongs for the first time.
Hyde Park tops the weights at Doncaster
The weights are headed by Hyde Park for John Gosden and Frankie Dettori. The ground has to be a worry for the Oasis Dream gelding who was pulled out of a Newbury handicap in similar conditions. Hyde Park reappeared at Yarmouth when defying 9st 7lbs to beat Firefright. He wore a tongue-tie for the first time that day and has gone up 4lbs for the victory.
Godolphin’s hopes rest with Night Circus, the winner of one of his four starts for Charlie Appleby. He won a maiden at Newmarket in April over a mile and was second at the same track last month. He was beaten two and a half lengths by Naval Warfare in good to soft ground.
Bottom weight Bengal Lancer romped home by eight lengths at Salisbury last time out. He has gone up a stone in the handicap as a result and is yet to race on going this soft. Manuel Fernandes claims a useful 7lbs off his back. The pick of the remainder is Six Strings, trained by Richard Fahey. He has one victory from seven outings but was not beaten far behind Bertiewhittle last time over course and distance.
