Melissa Reid in fine form for Deloitte Ladies Open

South Korean Inbee Park won the Women's PGA Championship title for the third consecutive year and regained her place at the top of the world rankings.

She beat Sei Young Kim by five shots with Lexi Thompson, Brittany Lincicome and Morgan Pressel following them home. Brooke Henderson was in a tie for fifth place with Suzann Pettersen and Australian Karrie Webb sharing seventh place.

Kylie Walker

The field is understandably not up to that class but there could still be some good value bets. The defending champion is Scotland’s Kylie Walker who claimed her maiden Ladies European Tour title 12 months’ ago.

Walker won a three-way play-off against Denmark’s Malene Jorgensen and Australian Nikki Campbell. The Scot went on to add a second title when claiming the German Open in a play-off from England’s Charley Hull. Her recent form is not that inspiring but a return to the scene of her triumph could bring about some improvement.

Her compatriot Carly Booth is also playing this week and is looking to rebuild her career after a difficult time. She won the Ladies Scottish Open back in 2012. She showed real signs of a turnaround when finishing tied tenth in the Turkish Open, her first top ten in nearly two years of golf. It is hard to believe that she is still only 22 and it would be fantastic to see her back in the top five this week.

Melissa Reid

England’s Melissa Reid won the Turkish Open, leading from start to finish in Belek to beat France’s Gwladys Nocera by four shots.

It was her fifth European title and she has been installed as the bookmakers’ favourite this week. Kylie Walker was third in that event. Nocera is back for another try and is second favourite, followed by Christel Boeljon and Pamela Pretswell next best.

Pamela Pretswell recorded a superb 65 in Turkey but slumped to a 78 in the final round. She is another Scot with high hopes of featuring at the business end of the tournament this week. Emily Kristine Pedersen and Isabelle Boineau are other serious competitors.

Pedersen is still in her rookie year but has the talent to win here while Boineau has also been in fair form of late.
