Sweet Solera Stakes Preview and Betting Tips – Haydock 12/08/2017

The feature race at Newmarket on Saturday is the Group 3 Sweet Solera Stake for two-year-old fillies.

Dance Diva sets the standard in Sweet Solera

The likely favourite here is Richard Fahey’s Dance Diva, a daughter of Mayson out of a Shamardal mare. She lost her unbeaten tag when beaten five lengths by Nyaleti at Ascot in the Group 3 Princess Margaret Stakes.

Dance Diva had beaten Maggies Angel by a length and a quarter at Newmarket in a Listed race on her previous start. She shapes as though the step up to seven furlongs will suit her and is the highest rated filly in the field.

Godolphin are represented by Poetic Charm, an exciting winner at Newmarket on her racecourse debut. The daughter of Dubawi travelled smoothly before beating Sizzling by a length. The runner-up was beaten in a maiden next time but Poetic Charm has plenty of scope for improvement. Connections think enough of her to post an entry for the Group 1 Moyglare Stud Stakes at the Curragh.

Mayyasah fancied for Sweet Solera Stakes

Richard Hannon has a leading contender here in Mayyasah, a filly by More Than Ready out of a mare by Elusive City. She made a winning debut at Newbury in July when beating Mushahadaat by two and a half lengths. The going was good to soft that day so she will not be inconvenienced by conditions on Saturday.

Hannon also saddles Tajaanus, a filly by Arcano out of Rayaheen by Nayef. She was more than six lengths behind Dance Diva at Newmarket in July which is a lot of ground to make up. That was over six furlongs and she has since won over seven at Sandown in good to soft ground. The betting suggests that Mayyasah is the more fancied of the Hannon pair.

Mamba Noire has finished behind the useful Clemmie on her last two outings at the Curragh and Newmarket. The gap was three and a half lengths in the Grangecon Stud Stakes and just over two lengths last time. She was staying on at the end of the six furlongs that day and cannot be discounted with Group 2 form on her CV. Capla Temptress takes a step up in class after beating La Diva comfortably in a novice auction stakes here last month.
