NFL Conference Championships - Betting Preview, Odds and Predictions
The NFL season has reached the semi-finals, better known as the Conference Championships. Four teams remain, and they are fighting for a trip to the Super Bowl.
In the NFC final, the Washington Commanders visit their division rivals, the Philadelphia Eagles, while Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs host Buffalo Bills and their star quarterback Josh Allen at Arrowhead Stadium.
We’ll take a closer look at both matches and give you the best betting tips, prop bets and bet builder suggestions for what should be two exciting matches and great NFL betting opportunities.
Philadelphia Eagles – Washington Commanders
The Commanders have been the big revelation this season, led by rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels. However, now they face the Eagles in Philadelphia for a ticket to the Super Bowl in their biggest game of the season.
The Commanders impressed everybody by beating the first-seed Detroit Lions last Saturday, but this should be the end of their run. The Eagles are firm favourites at the bookmakers and enter the game with a 5.5-point spread advantage.
The Eagles possess an elite defensive unit, which none of the teams the Commanders defeated in the play-off can brag about, and it will be interesting to see how they handle this.
Offensively, I expect the Eagles to go with a run-heavy approach as they have struggled in the passing attack this season. Quarterback Jalen Hurts has struggled recently, and he suffered a minor injury last week. Eagles will want to run the ball with star running back Saquon Barkley and control the clock.
It should also be noted that the Commanders have one of the weaker running defences in the league. They gave up more than 200 rushing yards to the Lions last week and allowed Philadelphia to put up over 200 total rushing yards in each of their head-to-head matches in the regular season.
I expect a low-scoring game here with the Eagles advancing to the Super Bowl on the back of a great Saquon Barkley day.
Kansas City Chiefs – Buffalo Bills
The AFC Championship final has become synonymous with a Chiefs versus Bills game in recent years. It is the fourth time in the last five years that the two teams battle it out for a spot in the Super Bowl.
The previous three games were all won by Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs. However, back in Week 11, the Bills won 30-21 over the Chiefs, and they enter this match with more than enough confidence after a good performance last week against the Baltimore Ravens.
The Chiefs remain small favourites at home though, currently favoured by a spread of -1.5. The over/under line is furthermore 47.5, indicating that the bookmakers expect a high-scoring match.
In my opinion, neither of these teams looked that good last weekend. Chiefs had an “easier” game against the Houston Texans but were not convincing in their win. Bills, on the other hand, struggled to create explosive plays through the air, and had to rely heavily on runningback James Cook to move the ball.
I expect defensive game plans from both teams and that they’ll both focus heavily on limiting the number of mistakes.
