Michael Storer Backed to Win Giro d'Italia 2025
Australia cyclist Michael Storer heads to the Giro d’Italia 2025 among the favourites to secure general classification success.
The Tudor Pro Cycling star looks to have his climbing legs at their very best after claiming outright victory with an eye-catching display at the Tour of the Alps.
That victory has led to his price shortening significantly with some bookmakers ahead of the Giro’s Grande Partenza in Albania on May 9.
He is among the most popular Giro d’Italia outright winner bets this year and is now as short as $15.00 with some Australian betting sites after previously being listed around the $51.00 mark.
So, can the 28-year-old land a career-defining win and top the podium in Rome on June 1st? Let’s assess the positives and negatives around his Giro bid.
Can Storer Win the Giro d’Italia 2025?
If his effort at The Tour of the Alps is anything to go by then it is easy to see why the Australian has gained support in the betting market in recent days.
The five days of action in Italy and Austria saw him win one stage before claiming outright victory, including wrestling back the lead from Thymen Arensman with a brilliant solo effort on the final day.
The big question facing Storer now is if he can produce a similar level when faced with previous Giro winner Primoz Roglic and young talent Juan Ayuso, who both currently head the market as favourites.
He will have to improve his time trialling, with two scheduled in this year’s race, and put aside the fact Tour of the Alps winners don’t have a great record in the Giro. Much could also come down to how the fledgling Tudor Pro squad competes against the well-oiled machines of Visma Lease A Bike, UAE Emirates, and Bora.

Not Peaked Too Early, Says Storer
Talking about his recent form and his hopes of success at the Giro d’Italia, Storer is adamant he has not peaked too soon in the Alps.
“I think for sure that I’m at my peak, but I don’t think that I’ve peaked too early,” he said when speaking to the press last week.
“My coach knows me really well, and he’s made a plan going towards the Giro. I’ll definitely need some recovery after this race. I’ve been building up really well, so I think I should be okay heading into the Giro,” he said.
“This doesn’t change my approach at all, but I’m happy with the compliment that people think that I can do a top five at the Giro,” he said. “That would be really cool, but it won’t change anything I’ll do in the next three weeks or at the Giro.”
Giro d’Italia Odds
While the odds on Storer to land a memorable Giro win have been cut, pushing him towards the top end of the market, there are still two clear favourites in the form of Primoz Roglic and Juan Ayuso when comparing bet365 and Unibet’s Giro d’Italia odds. Here is a list of the top 10 in the market but others are available at bigger prices.
