CrossBet is a new Australian betting site that caters for a wide range of sports markets while have a bigger focus on horse racing betting. Racing live streaming and an app for Android and iOS is good but they don't quite match some of the more established brands.

CrossBet Review – Top New Aussie Bookie

CrossBet is a new bookmaker that does seem to have a good idea of what Aussie punters love. They have a good range of horse racing and sports markets as well as horse racing live streaming. However, it is hard for them to beat the offerings of more established bookies.

Additional features, including a great-looking betting app and decent customer support, help this bookie stand out for such a young operator, but the likes of Unibet and bet365 are still way ahead at this stage. Below we compare them with what Unibet has to offer to give you a clearer picture of both.

Unibet
  • Horse racing and sports streaming
  • Live betting odds on offer
  • Good range of withdrawal methods
  • Impressive range of futures markets
CrossBet
  • Only horse racing streams
  • No live odds
  • Fewer withdrawal methods
  • Not a quick with futures markets

CrossBet Australia Overview

crossbet homepage mobile screenshots

CrossBet is one of Australia’s newest betting sites but already has a well-rounded offering for Aussie punters. This is a 100% Aussie bookmaker that offers a great focus on both domestic and international fixtures.

Hitting the betting scene in 2018, this bookie is fully licensed and has the potential to grow due to the fact it has been quick to include live streaming, state-of-the-art apps, and elements like Same Game Multis to its offering. These features make CrossBet on the way to being one of Australia’s best betting sites but they still have some progress to make to get there. For now, we think a few more established brands are ahead of them.

Horse Racing Betting at CrossBet

Horse racing is a clear strength of CrossBet. They cover both domestic and international racing events and clearly list all of the most recent contests that are set for the off. You can see this both on the homepage or with a useful info bar at the top of the desktop site.

You can also access their racing odds through their main navigation tab to the left of the site. This quickly brings up all of the action both for today and meetings over the next two days. As a racing fan, I also love how they offer the previous day’s cards. This is great for checking for any recent form lines or previous results you are interested in.

It is here you will also clearly see their futures offering. I like how this is then divided between Australia and New Zealand futures and international futures.

Get Horse Racing Stats

Clicking on a race you are interested in will not only bring up the latest betting market but also give you the chance to see detailed form stats. These race guides have everything from market price shifts to full career form and even expert tips.

This is a standout feature and one that makes CrossBet one of the most appealing horse racing betting sites in recent years. Previous track and ground results are easy to see and having the horse’s age and breeding adds even more information for punters to consider. This level of detail is usually only available by using a third party, so to have it at hand when placing bets is a huge positive for CrossBet. This is also something that Unibet is very good at, however, and the added features and extra sports streaming does make a difference when comparing the two.

Horse Racing Live Streaming

One thing that really stands out about CrossBet’s horse racing offering is the fact punters can enjoy live streaming with them. It is important to know that big-hitting international bookies like bet365 and Unibet have this but a wide array of all sports too. It is still a step in the right direction for this betting site and other sports could follow.

Who doesn’t love to watch how their bet is getting on, even if only to gather information for future punting? This is easy to access from wherever you are on the site. We will discuss this live streaming feature, called CrossBet TV, in greater detail later in this review.

Greyhound Racing with CrossBet Australia

It is worth mentioning that the racing section of CrossBet includes both horse racing and greyhound racing in one place. Greyhound action follows horse racing if you scroll down. Again, greyhound racing isn’t neglected when it comes to those excellent stats offerings.

I also like how you can select the racing you’d prefer to see on the ‘next to jump’ tab shown across the top of the site. Picking between horse racing, greyhounds or harness racing really personalises this feature for what the punter is most interested in.

Sports Betting with CrossBet

CrossBet sports betting screenshot

One thing that struck me when reviewing CrossBet was the number of different sports markets they had. Yes, they clearly cover horse racing and greyhound racing really well, but they certainly do not drop off when it comes to sports betting, even if this is a little less than the array of markets you’d get with some other bookies.

They do cover a wide variety of sports, including top Australian domestic action. All the top markets that you’d expect to find are there as well as a few others that some bookies don’t offer. One prime example being VAR betting in soccer where you can bet on if VAR will intervene during a game.

Each sport has a good mix of upcoming fixtures and detailed futures markets. Again, stats are available for some key events too. On top of this, the odds appear to be solid and certainly not much shorter than most competitors.

Same Game Multis

Placing multi bets is very popular among punters and this is also well-catered for by CrossBet. It is easy to see any doubles, trebles or bigger accumulators you have thanks to the betting slip that appears when you select the odds you want.

However, one huge positive, especially for multi bet fans, is the fact CrossBet Australia also have a Same Game Multi feature. This means you can also place accumulators on events in one single contest. You will see the Same Game Multi tab after you click on a single fixture. From here you can compile a multi on a range of markets, such as how many bookings, corners and goals there will be in the match or who will score first.

CrossBet App

As previously mentioned, the CrossBet app is not only a modern, great-looking app, but it is also quick and easy to navigate. There is nothing you can’t get on the app that you would get from the desktop site, including that live streaming platform. I don’t think is quite as good as Unibet, bet365 or even BlueBet, but it is still a really impressive addition.

Being able to bet and watch racing from your mobile device is another big positive for us. A great betting app and live stream combo really pushes them ahead of some longer-established names still.

The CrossBet betting app is available for both iOS from the App Store or on Android from the CrossBet site. The clear layout means it also won’t take you long to figure out how to use the app and get your next bet on in double-quick time.

CrossBet Live Streaming

crossbet live streaming mobile screenshot

We are big fans of CrossBet’s live streaming feature – and not just because we love watching our horse racing! The fact this is quickly accessible from everywhere on the site is a massive positive. With a lot of bookies you need to go to the sport of your choice, or even the horse race of your choice, and try and spot the little live symbol to access the stream.

However, with Crossbet, the CrossBet TV tab is always floating in the bottom left corner ready for you to get access to the next race. This expands across the bottom of the screen but also gives you the choice to be opened in a separate tab if desired.

It’s important to point out that Crossbet Australia only offers live streaming for horse racing at the moment, but we’ll be sure to let you know if this is rolled out across any other sports in the future. This is exactly where some other bookmakers edge ahead of them in the live streaming stakes. As we have mentioned, Unibet covers horse racing but also a lot of other sporting events.

Live Betting

Live betting is not an option with CrossBet. They don’t show any in-play odds on their site or offer the chance to call up and place your live bets.

This isn’t a massive deal as it just means you need to place your bets before the events start. If you are after the best live betting sites then it would be better to look somewhere else, or even give serious consideration to Betfair Australia as you can bet live online with them unlike with other bookies. Even Unibet and bet365 will display live betting odds so you can call up to place your wager.

CrossBet Bonus After Registration

Like all Australian bookmakers, CrossBet will likely offer different types of bonus bets for both new and existing customers. Just because they aren’t advertised doesn’t mean they don’t exist, you just need to register to open an account before you can see them.

Aussie bookies just aren’t allowed to use promotions and free bet offers to attract new customers. Instead, you should choose a betting site based on other factors, such as live streaming, quality of odds or number of markets for your favourite sport.

CrossBet has a prominent promotions tab listed on its main menu under all of its betting markets and customer support options. So make sure you head there after you have signed up to see what Crossbet sign-up bonuses might be available to you.

Payment Methods

While CrossBet’s range of payment methods might not be as extensive as some of the bigger Australian bookies, they do have a solid number to choose from that should get the job done.

As well as the usual Visa and Mastercard options, you can also use POLi, BPAY or PayPal. Another option is to use a bank transfer.

It is a quick and simple process to add funds to your betting account. Once you have registered, verified your account, and signed in, you can then choose a payment method that suits you best. This should be almost instant, especially if using a debit card. Your funds will appear quickly and you can start betting. Again, be sure to check the promotions section first as there may be a bonus available depending on the size of your first deposit.

Withdrawal Times

Withdrawal requests are done through bank transfer regardless of the payment method you used to initially add funds to your account. Withdrawals requested before 2pm AEST Mon-Fri tend to arrive in your bank account overnight, but could also take up to 1-2 business days. Withdrawal requested after 2pm will be processed the following business day.

It is also important to remember that withdrawals requested after 2pm each Friday, or a day prior to a public holiday, will not be processed until the following business day.

Customer Support

crossbet customer support screenshot

It is not difficult to find CrossBet’s customer support options. You can do so from the main menu or from the tab in the bottom right corner of any page.

They have an automated chat service that can answer a wide range of customer queries and a message service that will see replies via email.

Another option is to send a direct email to their customer support. All options should help you answer the majority of questions you have. Their terms and conditions, racing rules and sports rules are also easily available on-site should you need to look something up. Besides having a 24/7 real chat facility, this is a solid number of options.

Gamble Responsibly with CrossBet

It is worth noting that CrossBet appears to take responsible gambling very seriously. The first indicator of this is their responsible gambling banner on the homepage. It has all the information you need to seek advice and support, including a helpline number.

CrossBet also has a dedicated and detailed responsible gambling page with key information and a host of different links to support networks and organisations.

Conclusion

CrossBet is a solid new bookie in Australia and it is clear they mean business. The main highlight for me is the number of extra features they offer punters, such as live horse racing streaming and detailed racing stats.

If you’re a horse racing fan then they could be a decent choice. However, if you want to regularly bet on other sports or enjoy live streaming of other sports then an alternative such as Unibet would be our recommendation.
