  • Form and confidence is key in track cycling, while head to head stats are always well worth examining too before you have a bet.

Cycling Betting Australia: La Vuelta a Espana

The third and final Grand Tour of the road racing season is La Vuelta a Espana. This is yet another three-week road race with punishing climbs in nearly half of the 21 stages most years. Not many riders are capable of winning all three of the Grand Tours, though plenty have attempted the Tour de France/Vuelta double or Giro/Vuelta double. You can find out more about betting on La Vuelta a Espana in our in-depth betting guide to the race.

Chris Froome managed to win the Tour de France and Vuelta a Espana double in 2017, while Contador won the Giro/Vuelta double in 2008. The 2019 Vuelta a Espana should be as exciting as ever and it is due to get underway on August 24 in Salinas de Torrevieja. The race ends in Madrid on September 15 after 21 stages and 3257 km. No Vuelta a Espana betting odds were available at the time of writing but keep an eye on Bet365 Australia and Unibet as they are usually first to form markets for the race.

Cycling Betting Australia: Olympic Cycling Track/Road Race

The Olympics captures the imagination of all sports fans in Australia every four years. In 2020 the Olympics will be held in Tokyo in Japan and Aussie cyclists will be targeting medals in both the road race and the various track disciplines. All the best riders in the world will be lining up in the road race and time trial and Richie Porte will probably be Australia’s best hope of a medal in the road race. In the individual TT, 2018 World Time Trial winner Rohan Dennis will carry Aussie hopes of landing gold.

Australia has a rich tradition in many of the track cycling disciplines. Some of the most popular track disciplines include Keirin, Madison, Omnium, Pursuit and Sprint (team + Individual). The Australian men took silver in the team pursuit at the 2016 Olympics so they will be hoping to go one better in Japan.

Anna Mears was an absolute legend on the track for Australia at the Olympics and won multiple medals between 2002 and 2016. 28-year-old Stephanie Morton will be looking to step up and fill the void left by Mears who has retired. No betting odds are yet available for the 2020 Olympic Track Cycling or Road Races but check back here for the latest odds once they become available. We'll be able to provide tips from some of the best bookies out there including BetStar and ClassicBet.
