That’s why we have come up with the list od the top 7 most prominent Euro 2020 bookmakers, so you don’t have to wander around and do all the research by yourself. When making this list, we considered several important factors, such as the selection of markets, quality of odds, payout terms, customer support, and so on.

The most important thing is that all the listed bookies are licensed in Australia and 100% safe, meaning that you won’t have any troubles if you choose any of them. The decision about where to go comes only to your personal preferences. If you want to learn more about these betting sites, read some of our bookmaker reviews where we talk in details about both the good and bad sides of each operator.

Euro 2020 TOP Scorer

Who will be the most efficient player of the upcoming Euro? Would it be the old sport Cristiano Ronaldo or maybe some of the young guns, like Kylian Mbappe? In any case, we will have a close race with no clear favourites at this point. But keep in mind one important thing when placing your bets on Euro 2020 top scorer – the team plays as much of the role as the player himself. Top scorer almost always comes from a team that has reached at least semi-finals, because those players have played more games and thus had much more chances to score.

We have listed below betting sites with the best odds on top scorer market. But note that prices can change even daily, so make sure you do the odds comparison test just before betting.

Euro 2020 Betting: Top Pre-Tournament Picks

Pre-tournament betting is tricky! On the one side, it’s super fun, and usually, these kinds of picks come with very high odds.

But on the other hand, the risk factor is through the roof because there are just too many things that can go wrong when you’re placing a bet a few months before the tournament. For example, at this point, Harry Cane looks like a natural choice for the Golden Boot winner – if everything goes as planned. And that is always a very big if!

Without further ado, here are some of the best pre-tournament bets for the upcoming Euro Cup. Before you dive in, note one more important thing. We will regularly update this table, so even if you decide to come back after some time, there will be fresh picks waiting for you.

England – A Favourite to Win It All

It seems that this may finally be the year when England breaks in and win a big international tournament. They have been good since the beginning of soccer, but they rarely came on top. Euro 2020 may be England’s best chance to take the cup home. They have the great combination of young talents and experienced veterans, with Harry Cane being a leader both on and of the playing field. Kane has already been the best striker of the past World Cup in Russia, and there are strong indications that he may reclaim the scorer title.

On the other hand, other usual suspects, like Germany, Spain and France, don’t look as dominant as on the previous tournaments. England’s greatest foes in the battle for the champion stand will probably be Belgium, which has previously dominated qualification group I, and shown everyone that they are coming here not just to compete, but to upset the established order and win the title.

However, Englishmans have another ace in their sleeve, and that is the home court. They will play all of their group matches on Wembley, as well as the potential semi-final and final matches. The crowd on London’s (and Europe’s) most famous football stadium will surely cheer like mad, so any team will have a tough time competing against the Three Lions.

Potential Call Ups and the Expected 11

England looks excellent on paper, but there are a few things that can affect their end performance. For starters, two of their top strikers, Harry Cane and Marcus Rashford are not 100% healthy. They should be fine when the actions start, but with the Jamey Vardy retiring from the national team, either one of them missing games on the Euro will be a huge blow to the team. On top of that, goalkeeper Jordan Pickford has a rough period as of now, so some people think that he should be replaced either by Nick Pope or Dean Henderson.

This may look like a lot, but in reality, England should be fine. They have enough depth to cover all the hols, so it’s a reasonable assumption that they will have a great run this summer. If everything happens to be all right, their top 11 should look something like this:

  • GK – Pickford
  • DF – Alexander-Arnold
  • DF – Stones
  • DF – Maguire
  • DF – Chilwell
  • MF – Oxlade-Chamberlain
  • MF – Winks
  • MF – Henderson
  • FW – Sterling
  • FW – Kane
  • FW – Rashford

Where to Watch Euro 2020

Honestly, Euro Cup is always hard to track because of a simple fact that all the game are aired in the middle of the night! Most soccer fans watch highlights only, but if you’re one of the dedicated fans, note that Optus Sports will be covering all of the Euro 2020 matches.

Another option is to watch Euro 2020 live streaming on some of the Aussie betting sites. This is a huge event, so there will be quite a few bookies providing streams, but we believe that in this case, it would be best to stick to the huge European brands. After all, the tournament is taking place in their backyard, so naturally, operators like bet365 and Unibet will be offering the most comprehensive coverage. Not only that they are offering HD sports live streaming on both mobile and desktop, but also an unmatched range of markets and specials for the Euro 2020. Group A – Turkey, Italy, Wales, Switzerland
Favourite for the No 1 spot: Italy
Favourite for the No 2 spot: Switzerland

Italy should have an easy pass to the second round. They are a favourite to take the number one spot. Still, when we consider that they tend to have a weaker performance in the group stage of the big tournaments, it’s not entirely impossible that Switzerland surprises us all and end up as a group leader.

Group B – Denmark, Finland, Belgium, Russia
Favourite for the No 1 spot: Belgium
Favourite for the No 2 spot: Russia

This group is all about Belgium. They are ready and loaded to make big things on this tournament, so we pick them to finish number one in group B. The second-best team in Russia by far, making this quite a predictable group.

Group C – Netherlands, Ukraine, Austria, Play-off winner D
Favourite for the No 1 spot: Netherlands
Favourite for the No 2 spot: Ukraine
Possible Surprise: Austria

The Netherlands is clearly the best team in this group, but Ukraine and Austria are both proven to be tough opponents. Don’t be surprised if some of them (especially Ukraine) makes an upset. In any case, we are expecting a fearsome battle for the second spot.

Group D – England, Croatia, Czech Republic, Play-off winner C
Favourite for the No 1 spot: England
Favourite for the No 2 spot: Croatia

England will most probably win the group D. However, Croats have proven to be one of the top teams in the world (we all remember what happened on the World Cup, right?), so Englishmans will have to bring their A-game to secure the number one spot.

Group E – Spain, Sweden, Poland, Play-off winner B
Favourite for the No 1 spot: Spain
Favourite for the No 2 spot: Poland
Possible Surprise: Sweden

We tip that Spain will end up number one in group E, there is no question about it. Second best team in Poland, but don’t sleep on Sweden either. They will certainly win some games!

Group F – Portugal, France, Germany, Play-off winner A
Favourite for the No 1 spot: France
Favourite for the No 2 spot: Germany
Possible Surprise: Portugal

Every tournament has a group of death, and this is the one on the Euro 2020. Germany and France will fight for the first place, while Portugal will wait for its opportunity to proceed further and send one of the former champs homes early. If you are fond of risky bets, this is the group for you!

Group Stage

The group stage is very straightforward. There are six groups with four teams in each of them. A team plays once against every other team from its group, and in the end, two squads with the best score will proceed to the elimination phase. So each team will play three matches in the group, and in the end, 12 teams will qualify for the final stage. After that it’s winners takes all, meaning that if you lose a game, you get a one-way ticket home!

Euro 2020 Final

The final match or Euro 2020 will be held on the famous Wembley stadium in London on 12th July. There is probably no better place in Europe for a game this important, so we are looking for a thru soccer spectacle. Euro finals are usually filled with tension and emotions. Just remember the last one four years ago when Portugal beat favoured France in the thrilling overtime match. With only 10 minutes left on the clock, Eder scored a fantastic goal and brought Portugal the title. That was a night to remember, not just for Portuguese player, but for soccer enthusiast around the world. That is why we love this game so much!

Where the 2020 European Cup Takes Place: The New Format

UEFA has decided to spread this Euro Cup all over Europe and in that celebrate 60 years from the first tournament. Also, for the second time in history, there will be 24 participating nations. The championship will be held in 12 cities from 12 different countries, or to put it in words of UEFA general secretary Gianni Infantino “instead of having a party in one country, we will have a party all over Europe in the summer of 2020.”

The first match on the tournament will be between Italy and Turkey on 12th June. From that moment, Euro 2020 will officially begin, and it will last for exactly one month until 12th July.

These are the host countries and cities for the upcoming Euro 2020.

  • London, UK
  • Copenhagen, Denmark
  • Munich, Germany
  • Glasgow, Scotland
  • Rome, Italy
  • Budapest, Hungary

The Pros and Cons of Betting on the European Championship

European Football Championship is one of the favourite events for many punters, but not all of them think that way. There are a few of the clear disadvantages to betting on Euro Cup, which we will revel in the paragraph below. But first, let us take a look at a few of the most important reasons why Aussie punters love to bet on the European Championship.

Pros of Betting on the Euro 2020

  • A lot of matches – From qualifications and group stage, all the way to the finals, there will be dozens of great matches to place your bet on. Not to mention that most of Europe’s top soccer talents will be there!
  • Great odds – This tournament is a big deal for the betting operators, meaning that they will do their best to attract and retain customers. So expect a lot of greasy odds!
  • A Lot of Markets – As we mentioned above, bookies will do their best to come up with the most comprehensive betting offer possible; thus almost any soccer market imaginable is available.

Cons of Betting on the Euro 2020

  • Lots to Learn – National team soccer is a thing for itself, so if you’re not closely monitoring how the teams play months in advance, you’ll have slim chances of winning consistently.
  • Many uncertainties – Euro Cup is known for having a lot of upsets and unexpected outcomes, so don’t hope that you can win by just backing up the favourites.

Bet Types for the European Football Championship

Euro Cup is a premier soccer tournament for the European national teams, but in terms of betting markets, it’s not that different from any other soccer competition. You’ll find all of the popular soccer bets available, such as 1X2, goals over/under, Asian handicap and so on. Since this is a very important event, expect to see a lot of opportunities at almost all Australian bookmakers. If you want to learn more about how to get the most of your soccer wagers, check out our comprehensive guide for betting on soccer.

Live Betting on The European Championship

Live betting is undoubtedly one of the most exciting ways to wager on Euro Cup matches. Only one goal can shift a whole game, so it’s worthwhile to bet live and in that way get the most out of every opportunity. All of the sites from our list above support European Championship live betting, so be free to visit any of them if you’re interested in some in-play action. The top pick is probably bet365, but it would be best for you to read some of our reviews and see for yourself which bookie best suits your needs.

Before placing your live bets, note one important thing. Due to the Australian betting regulations, bookmakers aren’t allowed to accept live online bets. However, they can display in-play odds on their sites and accept wagers over the phone. So to place a live bet, you’ll have to pick up a phone, call a number displayed on the bookie’s site and let the operators place a wager for you. It may look like a lot of work, but once you get the hang of it, you’ll see how effortless it really is.

Game System – Who Plays at the European Football Championship?

This is just the second European Soccer Championship where no team will automatically qualify as a host nation. Instead, all 24 tournament participants have gone through the qualification process. In the beginning, there were 55 national teams all together which were then divided into 10 groups (5 groups of 5 teams, and 5 groups of 6 teams). Two of the top-seeded squads from each group qualify for the Euro Cup, while the non-qualifiers fight in the play-offs for the remaining 4 spots. The whole process lasts from March 2019 to March 2020, meaning that all the participants are known just before the beginning of the tournament.

The history of the European Football Championship

First European Football Championship was held all the way back in 1960, with only four teams competing on the final tournament. In the next 60 years, Euro went a long way and became a second most popular international soccer tournament, only behind the World Cup. Every four years, over 300 million people from all around the world gather to watch top European teams fighting for the famous Henri Delaunay Trophy. The Soviet Union won the first-ever Euro Cup, and since then ten teams got to the top and lifted the trophy. Germany and Spain did it three times, while France did it twice. However, Spain still remains the only team ever to win two tournaments in a row, doing so in 2008 and 2012.

Euro Cup 2020 FAQs

Euro 2020 is held in 12 cities in 12 different European countries. Organisers decided for this format to celebrate 60 years from the first-ever Euro Cup. Hosting countries are UK, Italy, Azerbaijan, Russia, Romania, Netherlands, Ireland, Spain, Hungary, Scotland and Denmark.

There are 24 teams altogether participating in the Euro 2020. Unlike previous tournaments, all teams were selected through qualifications, meaning that any of the host countries didn’t get the wild card.

There were 55 teams entering the qualification tournament. They were divided into 5 qualification groups of 5 teams, and 5 groups containing 6 teams. Two best teams from each group qualified directly, while the 4 remaining spots were waiting for the teams that go through the qualification play-offs.

Euro 2020 starts on 12th July, when Italy and Turkey will play the first match of the tournament. The championship ends with the final game on 12th July at Wembley stadium in London. Check out our Euro 2020 calendar to learn more about the tournament timeline.
