Cameron Green for Australia’s Top Batter in First Innings

Cameron Green had been struggling to find his feet at third position in the batting order prior to the second Test of this series. Now, with a solid 26 and 52 to his name in that position, the signs are promising for Australia’s non-bowling all-rounder. Here is another chance for Green to prove his value as a specialist batter until full bowling fitness allows him to play a role with the ball again. His footwork, defence and early shot selection is looking a lot better nowadays. He will be particularly tested if Khawaja or Konstas fall early again. Bet on Green to be Australia’s top batter in the first innings at 3.80 with bet365.

Alzarri Joseph for West Indies’ Top Bowler in First Innings

Alzarri Joseph will likely be one of four specialist seamers named in the West Indies XI for this third Test. There is plenty of focus on the home side’s fast bowlers, especially Joseph after his standout performance in the previous Test. He took four wickets in the first innings and two in the second and has collected public praise from former greats Michael Holding and Ian Bishop. Conditions in Kingston should favour Joseph. Extra pace and carry is expected. Pick him to be the top West Indies bowler in the first innings in this match at 3.50 with bet365.

Beau Webster for Player of the Match

Selecting and all-rounder in the player of the match markets can offer a lot of value. They, of course, can perform well with bat or ball, if not both. Webster will go into this fixture on the back of a half-century and two wickets in the previous Test, a WTC final half-ton – and several wickets for Warwickshire in tricky bowling conditions in English county cricket recently. He is primed for a big performance here. Bet on this underrated all-rounder for the player of the match accolade at 15.00 with Unibet. These are long odds, but shorter than they were for the second Test in the same market – and a worthwhile punt.

West Indies vs Australia Betting Preview

Australia were convincing winners in the first Test in St George’s and second in Bridgetown. Their focus is now fixed on completing a series whitewash, while the West Indies want at least walk away with a consolation win over the former World Test Championship title holders.

Conditions suggest another good bowling pitch. All 80 wickets have fallen this series. We’ll likely see this tally grow to a full 120 in Kingston. Freed of the Test captaincy, Kraigg Brathwaite needs to deliver. He managed just seven runs in the previous Test.

Jayden Seales and Shamar Joseph were superb in isolation and combination in the second Test. The Windies, though, would do well to give Alzarri Joseph the new ball ahead of Seales or Shamar this time in an attempt to further unsettle Khawaja and Konstas at the top of the knock.

The Aussies need a lot more from Konstas before criticism of his selection ahead of Marnus Labuschagne is effectively justified. Possible but unlikely, Josh Inglis could return to the XI in the place of Travis Head. With an unassailable series lead, the tourists don’t really have anything to lose on this selection front.

Australian captain Pat Cummins hailed Alex Carey as “prolific” and Mitchell Starc as a “warrior” recently, but reserved judgement on Konstas. Cummins and the selectors have an eye on the future here – and will have to ride the lows and highs with Konstas. For them, this time, hopefully it’s the latter in Kingston.

This third and final Test precedes a five-match T20I series between the West Indies and Australia. Until then, though, it’s a big chance for the men from the Caribbean to pull one over the Aussies in the longest format of the game before having a bigger chance of doing this in the shortest version.

Team News

Australia are set to retain Sam Konstas at the top of the order with Usman Khawaja despite both openers’ lack of good form. Now is probably the time to rotate their seamers, opening the door for Scott Boland to return.

The West Indies will do well to balance their XI with the inclusion of Johann Layne at the expense of Anderson Phillip. Expect Brandon King to remain in the middle order and John Campbell at the top.

Predicted Line-ups

West Indies: Kraigg Brathwaite, John Campbell, Keacy Carter, Brandon King, Shai Hope, Roston Chase (captain), Johann Layne, Justin Greaves, Jayden Seales, Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph.

Australia: Sam Konstas, Usman Khawaja, Cameron Green, Steven Smith, Travis Head, Alex Carey, Beau Webster, Pat Cummins (captain), Scott Boland, Nathan Lyon, Josh Hazlewood.
