Boxing Betting Preview

Terence Crawford has stepped up in weight to challenge WBA super-welterweight world champion Israil Madrimov. Crawford is the short-priced favourite to become a four-weight world champion when they meet in Los Angeles.

The contest features Isaac Cruz defending his super-lightweight world title against Jose Valenzuela, David Morrell and Radivoje Kalajdzic battling for the vacant ‘regular’ WBA light-heavyweight strap, and Jared Anderson facing Martin Bakole in an intriguing heavyweight clash.

Let us talk you through the main event and possible betting opportunities. We have highlighted our bet bets at the top of this page but read on for a reminder and a more detailed rundown of each. The best boxing betting sites in Australia will have a wide range of odds for all these fights.

Terence Crawford vs Israil Madrimov

The bill for this event will be topped by Terence Crawford (40-0 – 31 KOs) taking on unbeaten super-welterweight world champion Israil Madrimov (10-0 – 7 KOs).

The bookies make Crawford the favourite heading into this and many fancy the pound-for-pound star to add a world title at a fourth weight class to his impressive list of honours. Crawford was last seen demolishing Errol Spence Jr in their undisputed welterweight clash last year.

Madrimov won the vacant title in March when stopping Magomed Kurbanov in the fifth round. He has shown good power so far and will hope a step up in weight proves too much for Crawford. However, picking Crawford to break down his opponent and force a late stoppage looks the best bet.

Crawford to Stop Madrimov

The bet for this could be to back Crawford to stop Madrimov in this contest. Crawford should have too much for the champion if managing the step up in weight class without issue. He is a master technician and should be able to carry those skills and power into this division. Also consider Crawford in the later rounds once those markets have been priced up too.

Jared Anderson vs Martin Bakole

Jared Anderson (17-0 – 15 KOs) will look to continue his rise in the heavyweight rankings when he takes on Martin Bakole (20-1 – 15 KOs) on the undercard of this event.

Anderson is the favourite to secure another win and maintain his unbeaten record. However, he will have to be much better than his last performance against Ryad Merhy and also his showing three fights ago against Charles Martin, when his fitness didn’t look as strong as it could.

There will be no hiding place against hard-hitting Bakole and backing him to cause an upset isn’t the worse bet here.

The other undercard clashes look like they should go the way of the favourites Isaac Cruz and David Morrell.

Bakole to Upset Anderson

Jared Anderson has looked vulnerable in two of his last three fights and this looks a bigger ask. Even though he found a way to maintain his unbeaten record, Bakole could make this much harder. He has power and good work-rate that could expose any weaknesses in the undefeated American. Backing the upset in this clash should be considered.
